Our company recently purchased new mac powerbooks g4 with o/s x however our spellcatcher 8 disc would not install and require the files transferred over manually. On doing this spellcatcher would only work when connected to the network. I gave in and downloaded the demo version of spellcatcher 8 and that seemed to work fine (since there was no demo for spellcatcher x). I then purchased 3 copies of spellcatcher x (why not upgrade) however, it does not seem compatiable with our dental software called "The specialist" but will work in text documents. Hence I just purchased 1 copy of version 8 (as I do know this version will work!). To my horror the installation once downloaded displays an installation error of: "An error occurred while reading the installer data. This installer appears to be damaged. Unexpectedly reached the end of." I trashed that download and attempted to download again (another 20mins) and the same error occurred.

I now have two problems: 1. Purchase requiring refund of 3 spellcatcher x (that are not compatiable) and 2. Spellcatcher 8 purchase refusing to install. If the spellcatcher 8 install can be rectified I will exchange the spellcatcher x to 8's in the meanwhile I will have to download the demo versions until this mess can be somehow sorted out. Please help!

I need more details about what "incompatible" means with regard to the dental software (specific actual reproduceable step-by-step proceudures to create the problem(s) along with a full description of the actual behavior you expect vs. what you are actually seeing - also tell me whatever you can about this medical software - who created it, what it's built with, is it a Carbon or Cocoa or Java app, anything you can possibly think of) and I'm guessing if you're on dial-up that you just got a corrupted download of Spell Catcher 8 (which we can easily fix for you).
