I have used Spell Catcher™ Plus for over a year and love it but Spy Sweeper is now flagging it as a keylogger. Googled "Spell Catcher key logger" and find Spyware Doctor also calls it a keylogger.

What's up????

Well, technically speaking, Spell Catcher Plus is a keylogger. That's what the Ghostwriter function does by design!

This does not mean it's any sort of spy or malware. You know what Spell Catcher Plus does, you know it's features, you know it's safe to use on your system.

So just tell any sort of "detection" application that flags it as such not to do so anymore. They all should have the option to do so. If not, switch to a better spyware detection utility.

I see that PC Tools has a form we can fill in to dispute what they are publishing, and will do so shortly.

Thanks for the heads-up! But certainly nothing for you to worry about. Unfortunately, now we have to try to "undo" any damage done by these incorrect reports...

FOLLOW-UP:

It actually looks like Spell Catcher Plus is NOT in their database of "offenders". It's just listed (along with lots of other well-known, commercial, NON-malware titles) in some sort of daily report from back in August of 2005. Interestingly, some of Microsoft's own software that ships with XP (like Microsoft On-Screen Keyboard) is listed as well. But when you click on the link representing these titles, you get an empty entry. So this listing is basically meaningless, and there's actually nothing to "undo".

Just carry on, nothing to report, nothing to see, nothing to worry about here...

Thanks! I just knew such a great program couldn't be malicious. :)
BTW glad I found the forum too. In about a year with Spell Catcher + this was the first problem I ever encountered so I didn't go looking before. B)

thats because SSCatcher is "watching " for key presses.
As far as I know SSweeper can be set to ignore SCatcher as also the others
