Hi. I have an entry as a shorthand that expands to PA and lateral chest. Sometimes I want the entire phrase in all caps. Always, though, I want the PA capped. My entry for it is palc. The expansion is in as PA and lateral chest. I can't get this particular entry to come out in all caps. Others do just fine, I've checked.

So I did change some of the options for spelling in the preferences, but I guess I'm not hitting on the right one. It happens in Word and in Notepad. I'm using Spell Catcher Plus 3.0 on Windows XP. Is there a way to get around this?

Thank you.

Hi Harrie

The expansion in question produces “PA and lateral chest”.

Here is a general rule that pertains to Spell Catcher expansions:

Spell Catcher expansions that contain mixed case always expand as expressed.

If an expansion is all lower case, then it will be upper cased if the shorthand that triggers the expansion is typed in CAPS.

If you can suggest an improvement to this methodology, it can certainly be implemented.

I guess Spell Catcher could UPPERCASE every expansion if the shorthand is typed in CAPS. Historically, however, Spell Catcher has never modified expansions if they contain mixed case.

Perhaps this expansion issue deserves to be revisited.

Thanks so much for the reply. I understand and I just wanted to be sure there wasn't a setting I was missing.
