I've just checked on the web site for my serial numbers, using both email
addresses that I could've used. Really, those are the only two. I found the
serial number for my version for X, but there's no serial number registered
for 8.

My serial number is not lost, so I don't have that problem...
but if I ever did, I wouldn't be able to get it from you.
How can I re-register my serial number so that it is in your database?

Just use the Product Registration page and enter it manually.

The main link to it is from our Support page. The URL is in the /products/ area for historical reasons.
