I think I found a reproducible bug in 10.3.2.

If I type a sentence and Then press the period key to end the sentence, and then see I left out a word in that sentence and click to add it in, SCX capitalizes the inserted word. Look at the word "Then" in my second sentence.

Is this some due to a preference I have set?

Thanx in advance for your reply,
John

Give me actual steps to reproduce. I'm not sure what you mean by "click to add it in", or whether you type a separator (whitespace) character after the period - that sort of thing.

Hard to tell exactly what you did just by looking at the results.

As well, I'm not sure how your current preferences are set, so can't say whether it is settings-related or not. Also tell me whether it's consistent across all applications.

First just give me a concrete example with steps to reproduce. I mean every keystroke and mouse click...

This is an example.

Now if I go to change "an" to "another" by clicking after the "n" and typing "other" I end up with "anOther". And yes, after the period I type a space and then click where I want to make a change. Yes, it happens in all applications.

Very easy to reproduce. Just Type a sentence, press the period key, hit the space bar and click in some other place to add a word and you should see what I mean. I just added the word type in the previous sentence. I bolded it just to make it easier to see.

Must be something computer specific. Can't reproduce it in Pages program.

I solved the problem by just turning off the option to capitalize the first letter in a new sentence.

Still doesn't make a lot of sense to me - I haven't had time to look into it yet, but I'll let you know what I find when I do.

I can't reproduce this. You sure it's happening in all applications? Sounds like a possibility in an app like Firefox 3 that "eats" mouse clicks, otherwise, still makes no sense to me.

Not a problem as I just turned off the feature to capitalize the first letter of a new sentence. And yes, this was happening in Firefox 3.08 and Camino 1.6.7 as well. I have since switched to OmniWeb 5.8 and just love it. It is the best browser I have ever used.

Any comments on Spell Catcher with OmniWeb Evan?

OK, so maybe it wasn't happening in all applications, as you stated originally. I expect it would happen in Firefox as it doesn't properly deal with mouse clicks with regard to what input methods require/expect.

As for OmniWeb, might as well get the latest version - 5.9.2. OmniWeb is Mac OS X only, so uses standard text editing views (either WebKit or Cocoa), so you shouldn't have any trouble.

It's the cross-platform products that most often have issues regarding text input and input methods.

Thanx Evan. I'll just stick with OmniWeb. I just downloaded 5.10 "sneaky peek. It works wonderfully with SCX.

But, both Camino and Firefox seem to not like SCX. Oh well...
