Each time I need to go up to the menu bar and reselect the checkmark for SpellCatcher. Or is there a keyboard short-cut?

Is there a way to keep the SpellCatcher application active in Apple Mail when I switch to another application and then come back later to Mail.
Each time I need to go up to the menu bar and reselect the checkmark for SpellCatcher. Or is there a keyboard short-cut?
