Hello Evan,
I have two very repeatable and verifiable glitches that occur in Safari (v5 and 5.1) when Spell Catcher 10.3.6 is running.
1. When you start typing a URL, Safari gives you a drop-down of suggestions, as it has since at least v4 days. It highlights one of them, and if it's the right one, you used to be able to just hit Return, and it would take you to that page. However, when I turn on Spell Catcher, if you're typing www.cn... for instance, and the drop-down highlights on a guess of www.cnn.com, hitting Return doesn't take you to cnn.com... it takes you to wherever you left off when you stopped typing. In this case, it will bring you to the nonsensical page of "www.cn.com." In order to actually go to cnn.com, you have to move over to the down arrow to select the drop-down that you want. Multiple times a day I now end up going to partially filled-out URLs that actually don't go anywhere. When I turn off Spell Catcher, Safari behaves as normal: meaning when it selects one of the drop-down URLs in its menu suggestion, hitting Return will take you to that URL, regardless of how much of the URL you finished typing.
2. When you're filling out a form page in Safari (v 4.x or 5.x), hitting the tab key will take you to the next field in the set, as it should. However, with Spell Catcher on, hitting the tab key will often just give you a tab in the current field. In other words, I'm in an empty field, and I start type my first name, Scott. When I hit the tab key, instead of the cursor moving to the next empty field, it stays in the field and tabs over from what I typed. When I turn SC back off, the tabbing in fields works properly once again.
Last week, I reinstalled our second copy of SC we own on my Office Manager's new iMac. This is a fresh Mac, with virtually nothing else on it but what comes from the factory. As is my norm, I always install SC first. Sure enough, both of these glitches appeared instantly.
Since I use both of these Safari features dozens if not hundreds of times every day, I'd be happy to 1. first find out if others are also seeing this, and 2. be a tester for any betas that correct this. You can contact me privately or through here. If you need my phone or ichat or Skype or anything, I'm more than happy to help. I could even do a screen shot movie to show the behavior that I'm seeing.

Tell me which of the following preferences (Spell Catcher Preferences, Interactive pane, Typing tab) you have selected for Safari:
Under "Ignore the most recently typed word when followed by"
- Tab
- Return
Ignore typing when the application is automatically completing
Now try changing each setting, tell me if any of them make a difference.

For Safari:
Under "Ignore the most recently typed word..." I have just "Shift-Space" checked. Tab & Return are not checked.
"Ignore typing when the application..." is not checked.
I will check all three, and see if it makes a difference.

That completely fixed the issue. Thanks, Evan.

UPDATE: using the new Safari Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5)
In order for expand abbreviations to work in Safari's URL field, you need to uncheck the "Ignore typing when the application is automatically completing" box at (Spell Catcher Preferences, Interactive pane, Typing tab). Everything then works perfectly.
