Greetings,
I just upgraded to the new version of Parallels Desktop for Mac. This new version 6 has better keyboard integration with the Mac, and Spell Catcher X 10.3.6 is almost working well enough to do spelling corrections in Windows applications running in emulation.
I say almost because it can now watch what I am typing and know when I have made a spelling error in a Windows application, and it can bring up the correction dialog with the appropriate suggestions for my misspelling. Where is falls short is in the replacement of the misspelled text with any chosen suggestions.
When trying to do the replacement, Spell Catcher emits backspaces to the Windows application, but stops at the first letter of the word that it is trying to correct. For example:
This is a teste<space>
I bring up the dialog, pick the suggestion “test”, Spell Catcher X emits backspaces, but then stops with the result being:
This is a t
I get the same results with any auto correction replacements I have set up.
Now it may be that there is some kind of bad interaction with the beta copy of Spell Catcher Plus that I have running in my Windows XP simulation, but I get the same results if I turn off the interactive checking of the Windows version, and only leave the Mac version in interactive mode.
Are there any possible ways I might be able to tweak the application settings for Parallels in Spell Catcher X so that I could get it to work better with Parallels? (Admittedly, it could be that Parallels is “not quite there” when it comes to keystroke integration with the Mac, and it may be that application at fault.)
If so, then I wouldn’t need to keep my personal dictionaries synchronized between my two version of Spell Catcher, and I would only have to remember one keystroke to bring up a suggestions window. :-)

(I haven't tried this myself yet)
I'll take some time over the next day or so to verify your findings. Still, don't get your hopes up too high, while what you state is impressive, there is certainly the possibility that the job they've done is only partially effective.
More later…
UPDATE:
Not going to pan out. Can you describe how this works any better than previous versions of Parallels?
I don't think it's really possible to integrate the two (vastly different) operating systems at the level required by something like Spell Catcher (or any input method for that matter).

Unfortunately I no longer have a copy of Parallels 5.x installed to test from, but from what I remember Spell Catcher could follow the keystrokes in the XP simulation, but when it recognized an error it failed completely when it tried to do a replacement. There were no backspaces emitted into the simulation at all.
With Parallels 6, it is now able to partially backspace over the misspelled word in XP, but it cannot complete the deletion, stopping on the first letter of the word. If my memory is correct, then this is an improvement over the prior interactions between Parallels and Spell Catcher.
Hence my question to see if there was anything I could do on the Mac side to get this seemingly final obstacle to fall away.
