I have upgraded to a new iMac i5 and thus OS 10.6.4. In the Finder and Apple bundled software (Safari, Mail, etc.) the option for Spell Catcher in the input menu in the menu bar is greyed out. If I change to non-apple programmes I can select Spell Catcher and it I change to another non-apple programme it remains with Spell Catcher but as soon as I go to the Finder or Apple programme it reverts to British and remains so when then going back to other non-apple programmes. I am a long time user of SC and this I believe is a slightly different problem to the old familiar one with input not sticking. I have anyway several times tried the trick of dragging the file from the Library - Components to the desktop, back again and restarting which has always worked for me in the past.

Make sure you have Spell Catcher X 10.3.6 installed.

Mac OS X 10.6.x fixes many bugs with input methods, no need to do the move the component onto the Desktop and back thing.

Remember that Spell Catcher X 10.3.6 installs two input methods - see this FAQ and this Help Book section.

Thanks for such a rapid reply. I have reinstalled and made sure Rosetta was not checked. That I believe was the problem as previously it was asking for Rosetta to be installed.
