I've been using OmniFocus for well over a year now, and in conjunction with SC without any issue. I just downloaded the new version of OmniFocus (1.82) and now typing is REALLY slow. I type at about 80-90 wpm and now OmniFocus won't display the text I'm typing any faster than about 20-30 wpm. Maddening.

Did some troubleshooting and when I switch the input method to the flag, the problem IMMEDIATELY resolves.

I tried adding the application to the SC Preferences applications list and then for that app disabling all interactive features, but the problem persists.

Any ideas? I love SC but OF is critical to my workflow. If the choice is between the two, I have no choice, I have to go with OF and disable SC and that is something I REALLY don't want to do.

First things first - see if restarting your Mac makes any difference.

If not, open the Console utility, reproduce the problem, see if anything "suspicious" is output to the Console.

Not sure what they could have changed to make this problem occur…

Hi Evan,

this was interesting. I re-installed the prior version (and yes, tried doing both a soft and hard reboot, and the problem persisted) and I'm getting the same behavior with the old version now as I began to get with the new one. Very weird.

So I went to Console and found this message being created in very high volume, over and over again:

12/1/2010 6:43:33 PM [0x0-0x1b11b1].com.omnigroup.OmniFocus[31815] OmniFocus[31815]: NSGetAppKitMenuReal() not found.

I've emailed OmniFocus support to ask them what this might be about.

Then I also found a SpellCatcher entry in the 'diagnostic reports' section. It's long, will paste below. Let me know if you see anything of interest. Thanks for your help.

As well, another thing you can try is opening the Activity Monitor utility, sorting by %CPU, then reproducing the problem and seeing what process is consuming all the CPU.

Hi Evan,

I'm not seeing any increased CPU usage when these messages are being written, interestingly enough.

And now I'm seeing the same behavior with FireFox, which I rarely use but had to bring up for a site that requires it.

This is really bumming me out because I love this app, but I can't keep wasting time trying to resolve these conflicts. If I can't figure this out shortly, I may have to go with Typinator instead. I've used SC for probably coming up on 5 years now and dont' want to use anything else, but this is a major problem with these apps.

I'm bummed because at this point I have no idea how to do any further troubleshooting on it so it appears my best option now is to migrate to a different app, which I hate the idea of doing.

Did you ever examine what's *actually* sucking all the CPU while this happens? Which process exactly?
