As I switch between programs / Finder, I notice that the checkmark showing Spell Catcher being active disappears and I see the flag. I have to repeatedly select Spell Catcher. How does one keep it permanently checked? (Latest Mac OS and latest Spell Catcher)

Make sure you're using Spell Catcher X 10.3.6.

Then read this FAQ.

I'm using the latest version and have read the FAQ. Still, Spell Catcher deactivates as I switch from program to program (to Finder). I just recently have had this problem with Spell Catcher not remaining active when I (to correct the problem I was having with Outlook 2011) switched SC from 64bit mode to 32bit.

Please give exact steps to reproduce, including the applications involved, and the method you use to switch between them.

Not any sort of known issue.

I've had tis problem continuosly for months and months. I've tried everything that Evan suggests and it sometimes works for a day or 2. Then I'm back to the menu item deactivating 5 to 10 times a day.

Keep a close eye out - try to determine what happens right before. It's not something I've ever seen happen...

(Sorry Evan I didn’t know you had responded till I saw the upgrade today and thought I would check the forum again)

I’ve done this and can see no pattern whatsoever. It’s working fine one minute and disabled the next.
I’m very reluctant to upgrade to todays new version (June 6) unless this has been fixed.
I upgraded the last (paid) version with hopes that it would solve my bug but it didn’t help.

There's nothing to be fixed - Spell Catcher doesn't "turn itself off" unless you Quit the Spell Catcher application.

Only the Mac OS will do this. Either due to a conflicting keyboard shortcut - read this topic/post, or via a bug in Mac OS X itself, or when an application is running as the root user (something that's not sanctioned by Apple), or when you have to authenticate and enter an admin password.

Since there's nothing to be "fixed" in Spell Catcher itself, Spell Catcher X 10.4, well, has no "fix" from any previous version.

Evan I'm having a similar issue. I am running version 10.4 in 32bit mode for Mac Outlook 2011. When it is active it is rock solid however, when I switch between applications such as going to Safari and then come back to Outlook, Spell Catch X is deactivated.
I've read the FAQ but really need a bit more help as even following the steps, I still have the problem.[
