I'm just a click away from buying Spell Catcher. I got the Demo version's DirectCorrect and the DirectCorrect Inspector on for Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.4.2. What a fantastic solution!

But here's what I'm holding off on:

I need DirectCorrect to work for Adobe Lightroom 2.7 and Adobe Photoshop CS5 12.0.2

I haven't found anything on the forums. Can you help me get it set for these two applications?

Obviously those two apps just don't have the support that DirectCorrect needs. Sorry, there's nothing for ME to fix, and everything for Adobe to fix.

Good luck getting them to create a proper Mac OS X app, given that those two products are cross-platform.

But as a paying customer of theirs, feel free to ask them to support DirectCorrect! I sure wish more developers would take the time to…

Well, since you were so gracious to respond with a fast and honest answer, I have ordered your application. I use Bridge for almost all of my quality control work. So it's really a God-send. I have also sent feature requests to Adobe. Hopefully other users will do the same. Here's a link to their Adobe feedback form.

I wanted to add that the entire application doesn't seem to work well with Lightroom. Seems even with copying text to the clipboard from LR and using your apps "Check Selection" has no results. Attached File  error.jpg   23.58K   5 downloads

Yikes! Nasty. See, not a "real" Mac app. Well, maybe. Does it support the Services menu? Try Check Selection from there. Or try Check Selection from the Spell Catcher application's Dock menu.

Interesting. I selected a set of keywords and used Services =Spell Catcher. Paste. Then I had to reselect the keywords in Lightroom and manually paste. Not bad, but that's kind of what I was doing with Microsoft Word.

Any difference using Check Selection from Spell Catcher’s Dock Menu?

This sounds like typical "graphics/page layout" copy/paste behaviour. The basic problem is (usually) that the application doesn't maintain the selected text when you switch to another app then back again. Does that sound like what you're seeing?

HOWEVER, that's not a known Microsoft Word problem. It (should!) behave as expected. What version of Word are you using? Can you reproduce this reliably? If you hide Word's floating inspector panel, does that make a difference?

No problem with Microsoft Word. I just meant that before I got your program, I was just pasting and checking in Word. I just tried the Dock menu and got the same error.

Hmm, should be fine in Word! Did you try with Words' floating inspector (or any other floater) window closed?

Just to make sure something's no wrong with your installation, try with good old TextEdit. Definitely should work there.

If still no luck, check to see if some other selection-based operation from the Dock menu (important, as other equivalent menu commands may use something other than the general pasteboard) like Look Up or Check Word then a subsequent Paste using the Paste button works.

If that doesn't work, check for conflicting keyboard shortcuts for copy or paste…

I think you are misunderstanding me. I'm having trouble using any functionality with Lightroom. Word is fine.
