Hi Rainmaker, can you please spell out the logic of introducing a paid upgrade for Spell Catcher 10.3 to 10.4 when Lion will be released in a few weeks. If you guys are going to implement paid upgrades in this way then surely a biyearly plan will be better.
Please confirm if Dev Lion has been tested with SC 10.4?
Kind regards,
Christian Macey

Simple, really. We released Spell Catcher X 10.4 when we did because, well, it was ready.
Work on version 10.4 began around 2 years ago. We can't (and don't) plan releases around Apple's schedule. Until Apple officially announces a release date for a major new Mac OS X version, we have no way to know when it will be.

Of course it's been tested with Lion developer releases! It works pretty well right now, but (like most other developers) a minor update will likely be necessary to iron out any problems we find. So when Lion actually ships, we'll be (more) ready shortly afterwards.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "implement paid upgrades in this way". Can you elaborate on the meaning of "this way"?
We typically release paid upgrades every 2 - 2.5 years. As far as releasing every other year, that's pretty much how it works out (for us, anyway). Our last paid upgrade (Spell Catcher X 10.3) was released in October, 2008. Before that, January 2005.
Does that answer you adequately?

Hi Evan, good to hear your response. I will proceed with the upgrade to Spell Catcher 10.4 as it'll always have a place on my production Mac.
