In Lion, and only on my iMac late 2009, I have current SC as a start up item. It bounces on dock at start up, but then dock item fades away and I get a, "You can't open the application Spell Catcher because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." BUT, I then dismiss the window and manually launch SC from a desktop icon and it works just fine. Interestingly, no issue whatever with my spring 2010 MBP running Lion and current SC. Is this a prefs problem? Can you tell me the path to the pref so that I can trash it and try re-launch. I'm a bit lost in Lion, currently. Thanks.

There's rarely any need to add Spell Catcher to your Login Items, as the Mac OS will automatically launch it on demand. See if taking it out of Login Items helps, or if trashing the copy you've got installed and downloading a fresh one helps.

Removing SC from start-up items as well as doing uninstall with both radio buttons selected (remove all SC preferences, etc. ) whilst in safe boot mode, AND, dowloading a new SC installer seems to have cleared up things for me. I suspect I'll have to revisit SC prefs to get it's icon to appear in dock or top menu bar. SC seems to be working in TextEdit and Pages, just fine. Thanks.
