After I made the settings to use SCX in Outlook 20111, not only do shorthands not work in Outlook but it stopped working in all applications that had previously worked. I tried removing the changes but still not working. Any fixes for this?

The first time you launch Outlook, does the main window open? Doesn't for me - at least not without choosing File > New Main Window. Then when I compose a new message (Spell Catcher or not), I can't enter anything into the message body. OK for you?
On the second launch, things behave, though.
Bizarre.

Not a known issue, therefore no fix for it. Are you certain that the input method component is being used in Outlook, and the input method application (64-bit) is used elsewhere?
I disabled the Outlook settings then restarted. I verified that shorthands worked then added setting for Outlook and this time it's working. Probably something to do with Lion saving the changes.

I have no issues with main window opening. Try deleting the com.microsoft.outlook.plist file. If that fails, 1) test in a new Identity (no need to setup) 2) test in a new User and see if you see the same behavior.

I am getting numerous lockups of Outlook 2011 14.1.2 when typing text. I won't rule out that it could be my system or another factor, but now I've also noticed it in another app -- Colloquy. At this very moment, in fact, Colloquy is locked up for me (I'm using the ##osx-server room on freenode).
I would not lay the blame at SCX except that this locking up is happening across more than one app and it happens when typing text (which I believe would have been corrected or completed).
I have my input methods set up as recommended for a 64-bit system in SCX's online help. I had the 32-bit input method enabled, so I've disabled the top-level item for it as recommended. I'll see if that helps. I'm also going to disable the system correction settings in Language & Text, as mentioned in another thread, to see if that makes a difference when I restart Colloquoy.
Oh, I have a sample of the lockup from Colloquy, but samples rarely tell me anything of value. I don't know how to best read them, but I saved the output in case it would be of interest to examine.

You may well need to do something similar for Colloquy.

I can't do that Evan. Seriously, I have 3 accounts on a 10.7.2 MBP. Two of the accounts have two input methods for SC, the third only has the 64-bit one. Strange and I cannot figure out what the problem is. SC preferences are identical and Outlook is added with use IM checked. Any ideas?

If you need to install one of Spell Catcher’s input methods you can do it via Spell Catcher > About Spell Catcher. If you don't see an "Install" button (but instead see the input method version), then it is installed. Make sure you turn it "On" in Language & Text System Preferences.
