Eudora crash with SC

Same setup, as far as I remember, as it had been for many months previously.
I since upgraded to SC 10.4, no effect.
I think something got buggered in the SC config/pref files but not sure what. Any clues, hints?
OS X 10.6.8; SC 10.4; Eudora 6.2.4

Time to get off of Eudora. It's history.

With regard to the current issue, I don't think it's the system update. No issue on another Mac. One the affected machine, Eudora crashes reliably with SC on; it never crashes with SC off. There is something buggered up between the two.
Any suggestions as to pref files I should restore from backup first?

2010 iMac 3.2GHz Intel Core i3
Another diehard Eudora user here. Each time I abandon it and try to get by with something else (Mail, Thunderbird, the open-source Eudora, etc, etc) I reach a point of frustration so bad it pushes me back into using creaky old, wonderful Eudora.
I started having Eudora issues a few days ago (I believe I did a Security Update a few days ago as well; I don't keep a log and am uninspired/inept to look on my Mac's logs), but as far as I could tell, it had nothing to do with Spell Catcher. Very bizarre behavior, messages popping up saying my message couldn't be saved, then after I clicked "OK" twice, it would close and the thing would go through).
This afternoon I moved the Eudora folder out of Documents, deleted the Eudora application folder from Applications, and deleted all the Eudora user files (p-lists, preferences, whatever the heck they all were) out of my personal Library.
Installed a fresh copy of Eudora and slowly started reinstating components: settings, address books, filters, mailboxes (this is one reason I love Eudora; so much of it is TANGIBLE and TRANSPARENT!), and so far have had no more odd behavior. Fingers crossed.
I only came to the forum today looking for a fix for Spell Catcher/Firefox incompatibility. Shorthands weren’t expanding, and I'd have to actually hold Shift down after typing an 'i' to make the spacebar work. But while typing this post (in Firefox) I unthinkingly tried to use a shorthand, and it worked! They're back, Spell Catcher is back for Firefox. I just opened other blank browsers and typed in them, and all is well.
I didn't start this post with that intention, but I am now adding my name to the list of people who have experienced some technical difficulty involving the Mac OS, Spell Catcher, and Eudora, and I'm muddying the water by throwing Firefox into the list.
Sorry; I'm really bad at being succinct.

And to clarify, both sets of problems seem to have been cured by my reinstalling Eudora (and deleting Eudora preferences files and such from the Library, but not trashing my Eudora settings from the Eudora folder in Documents. FWIW, I DID start to configure settings manually before reinstating the folder.)
Hope this helps someone.
Just looked it up: I installed Security Update 2011-006 1.0 on 10/12/11.
and checking today's system log, FWIW, almost every entry begins with a line about Spell Catcher.component (a lot of them include Eudora). Here's the first few:

These messages are harmless - they're being output probably because you've got your Spell Catcher Interactive preferences for Eudora set to "Use input method component in this application where possible" (recommended for Eudora and a few other apps). The Mac OS will output this basic message whenever you switch from an app that's using Spell Catcher’s input method component to an app that can't load it (i.e. a 64-bit app). Not very useful info, and in this case, harmless.

These messages regarding __NSAutoreleaseNoPool() and objects leaking are not quite so harmless. They indicate an error in Eudora, and that it's consuming RAM where it shouldn't be. Likely yet another Eudora problem related to its "ancient-ness". I doubt they would cause any immediate grief, but over time could be a problem.
The first one about "NSDocumentController Info.plist warning" is also an indication of Eudora's age/non-compliance with Mac OS X guidelines.

Wouldn't worry about the "Warning: accessing obsolete X509Anchors" log, not sure about the (partial) "n’t be completed. (DAVErrorDomain error 2.)")" message.

Regarding just that log entry, I had been finding batches of such entries--unrelated to Eudora, which I had abandoned, reluctantly, as a legacy client, and switched to Mail--and queried in another on-line forum about such warnings. (I'm running OS 10.6.8.) I got this advice, in case it's something you'd endorse Spell Catcher X users do if they get such warnings:
Quote
I'd start by:
Open Keychain Access
Verify that you have both "X509Anchors" and "System Roots"
Spot-check that "System Roots" contains (almost) everything from "X509Anchors"
Select "X509Anchors" from the sidebar
Select the menu item File -> Delete Keychain "X509Anchors"…
At that point I got a drop-down sheet asking whether I wanted to delete only the references or also the referenced files and as I wasn't sure which option to choose, I Cancelled at that point and took the alternative approach that had been suggested to me:
Quote
That immediately deleted the Keychain without any request for authorization (perhaps because I was logged in as admin) or a request for any other decision. My sidebar in Keychain Access now has just "login", "System", & "System Roots" Keychains. My "System Roots" has 175 items (versus the 104 items that had been in the "X509Anchors" Keychain), none have the circular icon badge with the white "x" on the red background, and Console no longer shows the batch of warnings I had been getting every minute.

I have no idea whether you created some sort of other problem doing that, but the message itself was truly harmless. Entourage generates the same Console output…

Eudora has been suffering more problems on my iMac lately. It's reaching that tipping point again where I'm compelled to try to get by with some other email application. And I'm starting to experience the undesired input method switch thing (but that belongs in another thread).
Wouldn't be great if all computer makers and software developers took a 1-year hiatus from making new stuff and focused instead on making all their stuff currently out there work with everyone's stuff? (Apple, are you listening?)
