Now that the release date for iCloud is known (on October 12), are you able to let us know if you will be making iCloud Sync available - to replace the current MobileMe Sync?
I ask because whether or not Spell Catcher X has this functionality will determine whether or not I upgrade to iCloud immediately, or wait and continue to use MobileMe.
Appreciate anything you can tell us.

Jeremy

To date, posts on Apple's developer discussion forums reflect the true "beta-ness" of the state of iCould. I can't say one way or the other, since I haven't even setup an iCloud account to test with. There's very little in the way of sample code to get developers started with iCloud.
So if you use sync MobileMe with Spell Catcher X or any 3rd party application, you should wait until there are equivalent iCloud implementations available before migrating your MobileMe account to iCloud.
MobileMe will remain available until the summer of 2012. That should give us all enough time to do what's necessary.
I will be posting a FAQ on the topic, now that (I think) I can talk about it without violating any NDAs.

Not migrating to iCould from MobileMe sounds great in principle - until you realise that we won't be able to make use of the new features in iCloud - such as Photostream, until you do make the transition.
As a result - I'm going to have to make a decision as to what is more important to me - keeping Spell Catcher X sync via MobileMe, or the new features of iCloud. I've already dumped most of the MobileMe features which won't be available in iCould - such as iDisk (shifted to Dropbox ages ago), iWeb (I'm using Sandvox) etc.
Oh well - I guess I can always go back to using Dropbox as a 'central' location for my Spell Catcher X reference files... not as elegant as MobileMe / iCloud sync, but it does work...
Thanks for the reply - and I look forward to seeing how quickly you can get iCloud Sync up and running.

I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect that we'll have iCloud support the day it's made available is kind of unrealistic. But if course it's something I need to be looking at (I'm researching it). I can't really say anything more detailed or "intelligent" on the topic at the moment. As soon as I can, I certainly will though.

Interesting - however the product that's mentioned is an iOS application, not for Mac OS X.
The Bare Bones folks are in a similar situation to our own with Yojimbo for the Mac.
