My Input menu on Lion keeps switching between “Spell Catcher“ and “U.S.” I’m not sure what the trigger is, but here’s some things I’ve seen:

“Spell Catcher“ is enabled in one field in the Safari toolbar, but when I click on another, it changes to “U.S.” This may happen between text entry areas and fields in other apps, but I saw it happen between the Safari URL and Search fields. If I select “Spell Catcher” while my text cursor is in each field, then it seems to stick, at least for a while.

The Command-Space keyboard shortcut for switching input methods keeps getting re-enabled. I think it’s getting invoked when I bring up LaunchBar. However, I cannot explain how it keeps getting re-enabled, as I have unchecked it in the Keyboard system preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > Keyboard & Text Input.

This Input menu weirdness is really confusing me. And it means that Spell Catcher is disabled for interactive checking/substitution many times that I want to use it.

Sounds like your Input source options set to "Allow a different one for each document" (Language & Text System Preferences, Input Sources tab). You want it set to "Use the same one in all documents".

And you're sure that the command-space shortcut is actually selected (on) in System Preferences, Keyboard pane, Keyboard Shortcuts tab, Keyboard & Text Input? Is that how you are determining that it "keeps getting re-enabled"?

Also check LaunchBar's preferences to see how it's "handling" command-space. I'm not familiar with LB so can't ask for anything more specific than that...
