I'm running Lion (10.7.2) with SC 10.4.1. I've noticed a problem when entering some text of a word, then hitting option-backspace to delete the word and retyping it. SC displays the "questionable" dialog with the two words more or less combined.

For example, I typed "type" then option-backspace then "typing", at which point SC displayed the questionable dialog with the word "typtyping" in the box. If I hit backspace (without option) it seems to work fine.

What application(s) do you see this in?

I'm not certain that option-backspace is a universally-adopted key sequence. Does it behave the same (delete previous word) in every application you use?

Well, seems that option-delete works pretty much the same way in most Cocoa and WebKit-based apps, however not so in others (MS Entourage doesn't do anything, BBEdit behaves differently with respect to whether it follows white space).

So the best I can probably do is look for option-delete (and perhaps other similar key bindings), and simply reset Spell Catcher’s internal state of interactive checking. In other words, have it behave like arrow keys and (most) mouse clicks. That would get rid of the spurious error alerts.

That key combination works in almost every app, except for Microsoft's apps (typical for them). BBEdit does its own thing, but then I have SC turned off in that app. I noticed that command-delete removes all the text to the beginning of the line, and that seems to work in SC.

I found an Apple support article that shows the keyboard shortcuts in Lion: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343

I can test the app if you'd like. Thanks.

There is a note above the list of Application and other Mac OS X keyboard commands:

Quote

Note: Some applications may not support all of the below application key combinations.

Anyway, I have this working (but not ready for testing). Are there other shortcuts in that list that cause similar problems?

I tried the other shortcuts and option-delete (backspace) seems to be the only one having a problem.
