Are there plans to return the ghost writer (I think that's what it was called) function to SpellCatcher...I really miss it.

Thanks

Yes, we have had a lot of requests for the return of Ghostwriter. It will definitely re-appear, though probably not in the 10.1 version.

It's not in the current version for a couple of reasons:

1. (the main one) Until near the end of the development cycle for 10.0.1, I had no idea how to implement Ghostwriter on OS X in a manner that was at least reasonably similar to how it works in Spell Catcher 8 (now I do, though determining the title of any arbitrary window to name the GW files appropriately on OS X will not likely be as reliable as can be done on OS 9).
2. I honestly didn't think that people were crashing so much on OS X that the problem GW was designed to solve even existed. Apparently I was wrong - lots of folks still crash and lose data on OS X. It's barely ever happened to me (maybe twice that I can remember since OS X 10.0 was released!).

It's not necessarily OS X crashing.
Ghost saved me numerous times on Yahoo chat forums.
Many times the message doesn't get sent.

I now make a sticky copy of any message I send there.

The next version of Spell Catcher Plus (for Windows folks) will have Ghostwriting included... the beta test period is going to start in October (hopefully this week) and run into November...
