After uninstalling version 2.0 I downloaded my 2.14 installer. After the install I have problems never before encountered, in all applications. Some are Outlook 2000, IE6, Mozilla 6, Word 2000.

The problem is that when a misspelling is found and I press the control key, the correction window comes up. So far so good. But... when I choose a replacement word by hitting its corresponding number my document becomes corrupted. What happens is that the text after the word being replaced is zapped and the replacement does not happen. I then have to retype everything following the word that was supposed to be corrected.

Needless to say Spell Catcher is now disabled.

Using XP Pro SP1 with all critical updates applied as of this date. AMD Athlon 2500+ (OC'd to a 3200+), Epox 8RDA+ MB and 512meg of Corsair DDR4000 dual channel RAM configured as dual channel.

Please advise.

Thanx,

John

Hi John,

I’ll have to send you a version of the word replacement algorithm that creates a text report. This may indicate what is going on.

I also have a few questions, perhaps you can answer them in a follow-up.

1) You were running an earlier version of SCP on this same machine (same OS), and had no problems?

2) Have you installed any new software (other than Spell Catcher) since Spell Catcher last worked properly?

3) I must confess that my hardware knowledge is limited... I didn’t quite follow the specifications that you reported. Do you have a control which allows you to adjust you hardware’s performance?

Please e-mail me at the address below so we can start looking into this issue. I’ll send you an alternative file to get the process started, so we can find out what Spell Catcher thinks it is doing.

Thanks,
John Tytler - Author, Spell Catcher for Windows
