When I select Services->Modify Selection->Quote (or anything else from that submenu) in PowerMail 4.2.1, nothing happens (text was already selected and Spell Catcher was already running). However, when I select Services->Spell Catcher->Modify Selection, the Modify Selection dialog box appears. I tried Services->Modify Selection->Quote in TextEdit and it worked there, so is this a Carbon vs Cocoa issue? (PowerMail is a Carbonized program.) [OS X 10.3.2]

Thanks,

Emily

Yes, it's a Carbon issue. Services accessed from Carbon apps from SCX's Modify Selection menu (these are called "add-on services", as they can change during runtime) don't work in Carbon apps with SCX 10.0.x.

This is fixed for Spell Catcher X 10.1, and it was a real pain working-around Carbon's finicky Services implementation (see our Spell Catcher on Panther FAQ for more details).
