I am having trouble with Shorthand glossary expansions. When I type emcc, I want it to expand to ExxonMobil Chemical Company but what I get is eExxonMobil Chemical Company. It is leaving the first letter of the shorthand designation.

Hi,

Thanks for the question. I've seen this before too, but not for a while... I have to ask three questions.

1) What OS are you using?
2) Which version of Spell Catcher are you using?
3) Which application(s) are you working with (Word, Wordpad, etc.)?

And I have a fourth question. Do this happen in every application you've tried the expansion... try it in Notepad, WordPad, Word, etc.?

Lastly, (yet another question), does it happen every time consistently or just periodically?

Thanks,
John Tytler - Author, Spell Catcher for Windows

I'm using Mac OS Panther and SpellCatcher X. It does this in Quark 6. I just tried it in Illustrator, Entourage and Word and it works fine. Must be the Quark.

Thanks for the info... I'll let Evan (the Mac guy) know about this. You've inadvertently placed your initial question in the Spell Catcher Plus forum (Windows version of Spell Catcher).

Cheers,
John

I think this will be fixed in Spell Catcher X version 10.1 (coming ASAHP - as soon as humanly possible). I don't know if there's any sort of good work-around.

If you're interested in trying a couple of things (i.e. running a couple of tests) for me, send an email to our support address (support at rainmakerinc dot com).
