Why don't my learned words get added once I click 'learn' ?

The preferences for some reason get lost from time to time in OS 10.3.3

This get old retraining Spell Checker.

They do get added when you click Learn!

Learned Words aren't preferences, they are actual documents that you add the words to.

You should NOT have to ever retrain.

Please give me a concrete, reproducible example. This has not been reported by anyone else.

Tell me whether you have the setting in Spell Catcher Preferences -> References to "Ask before saving changes" turned on or off.

Again, this is not happening to others. Please give us as much detail as humanly possible.

I have it disabled -> I would expect it should save all changes that I tell it to learn.

It seems to be a problem when I reset my system after I have taught a few words.

I wish I could give more info on that. I will try to pay more attention in the future - but - I do know I have needed to try enter several learned words more than one (things like my last name are memorable events).

All changes are saved to your various learned words etc. documents whenever you Quit the Spell Catcher app. That particular preference only governs whether you are asked to save any changed documents when they are closed - either when Quitting the app or closing a document window manually.

I just tried a few different tests to see if there might be some issue when restarting vs. just Quitting the app (there are some subtle differences in behavior), but couldn't reproduce the problem.

Tell me exactly what method you are using to Learn a word - there are numerous ways. Via the Learn command in the input menu, the various Learn buttons in windows (at least 4 different windows have Learn buttons). Also check using Find in References and/or the Show Duplicates function in the various document windows to see whether there might be any conflicts with a word you have learned that didn't "stick".

There are various rules related to learning words when the document you are adding to has the same word in a similar form (different case or with/without a trailing period) that might be coming into play here.
