Holding down the option key while launching the Spell Catcher X application will cause the following to happen:

1. Any missing empty (Application Support/Spell Catcher/References) reference documents (like the "My Learned Words" ones) will get created,
2. Any locked references in Application Support/Spell Catcher/Additional References will be updated to the latest versions (these are part of each language plug-in).

Note:
- Spell Catcher will never overwrite an unlocked reference document.

This means that there's no need to worry that an existing "My..." document will get replaced with an empty one.

If you have modified one of the default Additional References by unlocking it, and it's still unlocked, that reference will not be updated (you've modified it, so we don't want to mess with that). If the modification was a trivial one, and you'd like the latest version of that reference, just lock it (Get Info in the Finder, check "Locked") before doing this.

Why would something like this ever happen (missing empty references especially)? The most likely cause is some sort of incomplete backup/restore/sync operation. We've only seen a handful of cases where this trick was necessary.
