Using SCX to check a file created by OmniPage Pro (OCR), I run into situations where words are divided into two parts. One part of the original word may be correct and the other part is flagged as an error--I ncorrect. In the check selection window the problem can be seen but I can't find a way to fix it other than making a manual note and then correcting it later.

Any suggestions or easy SCX enhancements?

Thanks

Bob

You know - during initial development of Spell Catcher X, I DID attempt to make this possible. But that was way back when, on Jaguar. I seem to remember running into a bunch of issues - probably related to the way you can Undo/Redo during Check Selection (was everyone aware you can Undo things like a Replace or Replace All?) and Cocoa's built-in Undo support for "regular" editing in text views.

Seeing that I am dropping any sort of official support for Jaguar after shipping 10.2.1 (tomorrow or Friday if all goes as planned - so many things to do - web site, order page, FAQs, press releases, VersionTracker updates, Apple Mac OS X Downloads updates....) it could be time to re-visit this possibility.

Might even work properly these days (well, barring any new nasties I may well find in Tiger)...

But point noted, and actually semi-implemented at one point long ago (and since yanked, but the source code is still around somewhere).

I found this somewhat older post that raises the problem I often experience. I'm a new user; I frequently find that errors cannot be fixed within the scope of the text box given by SC for editing. Any current thoughts?

Thanks

me : MacBook 1.83 GHz OS X 10.4.10

The upcoming (rather major) Spell Catcher X 10.3 upgrade is going to make the technology and some of the not-just-for-developers features described on our Developers page available to all customers.

The idea is to merge interactive and check selection functionality into an entirely new way to check spelling.

Feel free to give it a try with the current shipping version of Spell Catcher X - instructions for enabling these features are available on the above-mentioned page, and in the Help Book as well.

(And it’s going to work MUCH better in Spell Catcher X 10.3)

Excellent! What's there now looks quite good--its seems to work well enough to start using it now.

Glad you're giving it a try! Just don't use it with documents longer than, say, 20,000 words or so as the implementation in Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 won't handle that very well.

Large documents won't be a problem in Spell Catcher X 10.3 though.

I'd love to hear your feedback on this feature - if you're interested in beta testing please drop me an email at our feedback address! The stability, performance, features and user interface of this feature has been improved considerably.
