I just installed Spell Catcher X - where are my languages?

How to get additional languages

The version of the Spell Catcher application on this disk image you download contains only the U.S. English language databases. This is to keep the download to a manageable size for dial-up users.

Additional languages can be downloaded two ways. Choose the one that works best for you:

  • Download languages directly from within the Spell Catcher X application by choosing the Spell Catcher > Get Updates and Languages command from the within the Spell Catcher application.
  • Download languages from the Languages page of our web site by choosing the Help > Spell Catcher Languages command from within the Spell Catcher application.
If your copy of Spell Catcher X is licensed, you can download all 8 additional languages at once - look for an item named "All Standard Language Plug-Ins" in the Updates and Languages window. Only a single language may be downloaded at a time when running Spell Catcher X in trial mode, and only one language in addition to U.S. English will be used (even if more are installed) until you purchase a license.

How to install additional languages

After you have downloaded the disk image containing the language(s), double-click the .dmg file to mount it (if your browser hasn't already done that for you), then read the "How to Install" document. In the majority of cases, using the "Easy Install" AppleScript application to install all the languages on the installation disk images will do the trick. There are other options outlined in the "How to Install" document, choose what suits you best.

Note: The "Easy Install" application first appeared on the language disk images (for Spell Catcher X 10.2.x) when Spell Catcher X 10.2.2 was released.
