Spell Catcher X 10.3.3 is Available!

Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) users, thanks for being patient—your wait is now over! Spell Catcher X 10.3.3 is available for download. This is a free (and rather significant) update to Spell Catcher X 10.3, and recommended for all Spell Catcher X 10.3, 10.3.1 and 10.3.2 users.

Spell Catcher X 10.3.3 includes a new input method, supporting applications running in both 64-bit and 32-bit mode, on 64-bit capable Macs running Snow Leopard. No setup is required, as was the case with Spell Catcher X 10.3.2.

Courtesy of the folks at e-MedTools, we’ve created a Spell Catcher format Learned Words file that includes medical terminology from the MedSpel project. This reference contains over 35,000 medical terms not available in the U.S. English Medical Additional Spellings database. Use this file in conjunction with the standard U.S. English Medical Spellings for a grand total of nearly 60,000 medical terms!

Customers that purchased Spell Catcher X on or after September 1, 2007 qualify for a free upgrade to Spell Catcher X 10.3. Otherwise, those with an “X102” license can purchase the Spell Catcher X 10.3 upgrade for $14.95 USD.

For customers that only own an old “SCX” license code, the upgrade is $19.95.

Spell Catcher X / Spell Catcher X Lite version 10.2.3 is now available! While primarily a maintenance and bug-fix release, we always manage to squeeze in a few new features. Take a look at what’s new!

Recommended update for all Spell Catcher X and Spell Catcher X Lite users, on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later.
This is a free update for Spell Catcher X 10.2, 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 owners. If you have an “X102″ license code, you’re all set.

Spell Catcher Plus Vista/IE7 Update

A new release of Spell Catcher Plus (for Windows) is being prepared to coincide with the upcoming release of Vista next spring. Meanwhile, if you are using either a pre-release of Vista or IE7, apply this interim update to continue using Spell Catcher Plus.

Danish Language Now Available

We’re adding two new add-on languages to our line-up, the first one, Danish (spelling and thesaurus) is ready to go for Spell Catcher X. Danish was the most-requested language, and we’ll have it ready shortly for Spell Catcher Plus and Spell Catcher 8.

As for the second language we’re adding, well, we’re strongly considering Russian. This will involve updating the software, as there are new things to consider when dealing with Cyrillic encoding on the Mac OS. If all apps and all keyboard layouts and all input methods could be Unicode, well, it would just work right now. Sigh.
